PART 1 (Liquid End):   Our famous class has given thousands the opportunity to put tools in their hands to work on standard dimension ANSI pumps.  For Symposium XI we offer our classic hands-on class in 2 Parts. Part 1 is focused on the heart of the pump, the liquid end.  Given by expert pump mechanics and millwrights, this extended hands-on class will sell out early.

The successful operation of pumps starts with a quality installation and effective start-up!  Learn what to look for when inspecting an installation, and critical start-up procedures for most common rotating equipment.  See firsthand how piping and baseplate installation can impact pump alignment.  Attendees will also see a demonstration of how installation and operating conditions can have a major impact on pump performance and expected service life.

This session is designed to provide process equipment professionals with a solid technical overview of pump system hydraulics, NPSH, efficiency and energy consumption.  From there, we will learn how to identify inefficiencies in pumping systems and understand proper application of variable speed technology to reduce energy costs and improve pump reliability.  Though not a prerequisite, this course is excellent preparation for many of our classes.

This is your backstage pass to a one of a kind, truly unique learning opportunity.  In this course attendees will operate fully functional variable speed pumping systems for a side-by side investigation of centrifugal and positive displacement pump operation.  Participants will get hands-on, running VFDs and turning valves to explore the fundamentals of pump operation, and will work with our expert engineers to gain a deeper understanding NPSH and cavitation, efficiency, and optimization of pumping systems.  Due to small class size, these sessions will sell out early and are offered all day.

Rotating equipment reliability has entered the digital age.  Prepare for the future, where pumps and their components speak for themselves and allow fast diagnosis of not only what happened, but why.  This fast paced seminar will discuss the newest tools for economical real-time equipment health monitoring and collaborative analysis, as well as the important implications for maintenance and vibration analysis programs plant-wide.

From foam to scum, grit to sludge cake, mannich polymer to chemical sumps, you’ll see real world, proven solutions reviewed with hands on disassembly and demonstrations of selected key equipment solutions. Bring your experiences and questions to this class and our pump experts will help solve your toughest pumping problems.

PART 2 (Power End):   Part 2 of our classic hands-on series will focus on the centrifugal pump power end.  Attendees will experience removing and installing bearings, and measuring critical fits and dimensions. Our team of experts will cover contemporaneous best practices in condition monitoring, lubrication, and more.  Completing Part 1 of this series is not a requirement, but would be applicable.

This panel discussion will focus on maintenance and repair of large process equipment.  Common to many industrial and municipal treatment facilities, machinery such as clarifier drives, flight and chain assemblies, large mixers and aerators, and digesters often operate continuously with little to no routine maintenance.  But what can be done to extend their life?  How can failure be anticipated and what parts should you have on hand?  When should machines be fixed in house and when should you call in help? Bring your questions and concerns about all your big equipment and our panel of experts will teach you what need to know to keep them running in top shape.

Register

This class covers how to identify a comprehensive array of failure conditions and how to develop your own set of corrective actions to get the extended seal life you are looking for.  Find out for yourself why most mechanical seals fail to achieve the life for which they are designed.  See how evidence from failed seals can tell the story of what went wrong, so that you can learn how to keep it from happening again.
